Jump aboard the Liberty Train

Opinion by Brock Gallops – Libertarian Activist,  Libertarian Party of the Chattahoochee Valley Vice Chairman

trainFor too long, Georgia citizens have been victim to Big Government. Commonly, Big Government is associated with Democrats but you should not be fooled! Big Government exists in both Republicans and Democrats. The greatest reason for Georgia citizens falling victim to Big Government is Georgia citizens themselves as the culprit.

We recently had one of the lowest voter turnouts in history for the May 20th elections. Almost all incumbents were kept in place at least until the General Election on November 4th. We have several career politicians in Georgia with over 30 years of writing senseless laws, telling us what is best, and implementing Big Government into our state. How is it that polls show that more than 50% of people are dissatisfied with politics, and we barely made any changes to our legislators? How do we have so many career politicians writing these senseless laws and helping the Federal Government to continue their overreach into our state? The problem is our voting habits which is in part a design by Big Government champions.

I’m 31, and I cannot recall lessons of ‘current’ politics before college that included parties or political activists beyond the Republicans and Democrats. It is highly unlikely you will find a Libertarian or Green Party member on national news or even our own hometown news outlets. Libertarians are the third largest political affiliate in the country and in Georgia. However, Jeff Amason and his team worked hard for six months to collect signatures so he can represent the people of Georgia and the Constitution from Georgia House District 21. Why has he spent six months to collect 2700 signatures while his opponents have spent the last six months campaigning? The design. Republicans and Democrats need not worry about petitions to be on ballots. They are guaranteed immediate access no matter how badly any of them have failed us. This design by the Republicans and Democrats (duopoly of America) has been around for years. Libertarians and other parties are highly restricted from media access, ballot access, and often debate access against opponents. If you recall your lessons in school, you’ll find they are restricted in educational institutions, public or private. What does this mean for voters?

Voter suppression! That’s right, I said it. The design is to suppress our rights through limiting our knowledge of choices and limiting our choices on ballots. If you don’t know John Monds, Andrew Hunt, Amanda Swafford, Aaron Gilmer, Jeff Amason, or Ted Metz are on a ballot, how can you compare them to other candidates over the months of campaigning that leads up to an election? Are you going to walk up to a booth, see Deal-Carter-Hunt and vote Hunt without knowing a thing about him? No. Most will continue to vote the Big Government champions; the career politicians who write senseless and countless laws that make you dependent on government in so many forms. Why? Because it’s all you are ALLOWED to know. I hope we can see a better future. For now, it rests on the engine of the Liberty Train.

I commonly refer to the Liberty Movement as the Liberty Train. We are dedicated activists and campaign volunteers that spend countless hours trying to notify the general public that other options exist. We desire a country that actually stands for Liberty for All & Equality. Why? Because we care about our future and our fellow citizens. We desire a state and country that erases senseless laws and restrictions on human rights and businesses which burden our everyday lives. There is a need for Liberty and personal responsibility to be re-installed for our state and country. The Liberty Train is very active in Georgia and will move about full steam ahead until the duopoly’s suppression of citizens are overcome, and Georgians have the ability to choose freely in politics and in their own personal lives. I encourage all people to research lpgeorgia.org and the candidates representing the party this November.
