Georgia’s Lady of Liberty – Amanda Swafford Reflects on Senate Run

From AccessNorthGa.com   FLOWERY BRANCH – The local woman who ran for U.S. Senate in Georgia is taking some time to rest through the holidays before planning her next move in politics.

Swafford GPB 02Amanda Swafford of Flowery Branch was the Libertarian candidate in the race, squaring off against Democrat Michelle Nunn and Republican David Perdue.

While several political pundits had said there was a real possibility of a January 6 runoff, Perdue won the mid-term election outright. He will replace Republican Saxby Chambliss who did not seek another term.

On the long campaign trail, Swafford said she encountered a lot of people who care about politics and want to change Georgia for the better, but she said more need to be involved.

She also found people who were completely in the dark about the election cycle.

“Just realizing how many people were disengaged from the political process, and didn’t understand that we were even having elections this year, and I think that’s the great disservice to our state, because we have so many issues that need to be worked out,” Swafford said.
